Haggling in South East Asia

A great tip I learnt whilst travelling in the fabulously cheap South East Asia, was knowing how to haggle. When I first arrived in Bangkok I was useless, despite craving everything in sight; be a beautiful scarf on the market stall or a night in a hostel, I just couldnt get the hang of bargening for my brunch! The route of my problems being that I simply didn’t understand the currency conversions.

To combat this I printed out a pocket size copy of conversions so I knew instantly that if my friendly market stall worker asked 300Baht for a pair of earings he was asking £6 and therefore in my opinion, too much. Haggling was never simpler than with my conversion table in hand.
